A Danis photographer has drawn a lot of attention in the online community after he pictured himself having sex on top of one of the highest pyramid in Egypt. Andreas Hvid posted the explicit photo on his website and YouTube.
It didn’t go down well with the Egyptian authorities who frowned at it and are now investing in the event. Hvid who later removed the video posted the following:
“In late November 2018, a friend and I climbed the Great Pyramid of Giza (a.k.a. Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Cheops). “Fearing to be spotted by the many guards, I did not film the several hours of sneaking around at the Giza Plateau, which lead up to the climb.”
According to the law by Muslims in Egypt, it is forbidden to climb above a certain level on the mountain, and the region is patrolled by Policemen and closed after 5 pm each day.
According to reactions from the public, it showed that Hvid has failed if he was expecting an applaud and good comments from his sexual escapades.
One said: ‘In my opinion, the nude stuff is very disrespectful and ignorant.’
Another added: ‘Total disgrace. Total disrespect for local culture.’
‘On behalf of historians and archaeologists everywhere, I hope you both end up in jail,’ another added.
Before now, I had traveled to many places because I had the money and could afford it. It gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in local cultures and appreciate them. To me, I think it is totally stupid to go out all the way and insult the local culture by engaging in such a show of shame. I think Hvid got the reaction he deserves.
His website had other videos of his nude art. Hvid said ‘he is on the search of untold locations that are difficult to reach.’
Yes, I would like to go right home after work when my Mrs needs my attention. I don’t have to impress anyone by trespassing on local cultures and to insult their tradition.
To me, Hvid has caused his downfall. And he has to hope the authorities do not jail him for the act.
